There are simple things that many people do like swap door knobs and hinges that have limited effect on the look of the cabinets. A more stunning visual effect can be achieved by putting crown molding on kitchen cabinets. Step 1 Install backer board. Place a piece of wood along the outer edge of the cabinet tops, keeping it flush with the face of the cabinets. Use screws or short nails to fasten it down. Step 2 Measure for the crown molding. Measure the distances between each corner and write them down. Step 3 Cut the crown molding for each section of the kitchen Step 4 Put the crown molding on the cabinets by placing the bottom of it so that it just covers the joint between the cabinet top and the backer board. This will allow the doors to function properly without hitting the crown molding. Use a brad nailer to nail the crown to the backer board. Step 5 Apply glue to any corner joints before installing. Fasten the tops of the inside corners together by nailing from the backside of the crown molding. Fasten the tops of the outside corners together by nailing from the face of the crown molding. Step 6 Fill nail holes with putty and caulk the seems, if the kitchen cabinets are painted. Otherwise, just fill the nail holes with wood filler that is designed to match the stain color of the cabinets. Other News:
